| The beach safari includes
a visit to the Southernmost tip of Africa, the Meisho Maru, shipwreck,
a drive through part of the Agulhas National Park and a drive along
the beach. Visit bubbling fresh water fountains right on the beach,
a 2 000 year old shell midden and ancient Khoikhoi fish traps en
route. See some of the rarest bird species (including endangered
African Black Oystercatcher), interesting shells, shark eggs, whale
baleen, pieces of pottery actually used by the Khoikhoi and much

species and 5 wineries in the area! We take the back roads and 4
x 4 tracks to visit some historic farm yards and wetlands on this
relaxed excursion. You should see the blue crane (Anthropoides paradisens),
considered by many as the most graceful of the 15 crane species,
flamingos on Voêlvlei and many more - and if you can appreciate

| We leave Agulhas and travel
via Rhenosterkop, the Salt Pan, Springfield, Bergplaas and Soetanys
Mountain to the mission village Elim for tea / coffee in the old
Water Mill. We visit the museum and Church (1824) and travel further
back in time to the impressive farm house and outbuildings of Ratelrivier
- and meet some locals en route. Depart : From Tip of

village with unspoilt white beaches and a cave said to be big enough
to turn an ox wagon with a team in! Enjoy tee / coffee in town and
then travel back to Cape Nature’s pristine De Mond - where
the Heuningnes River flows into the Indian Ocean and which is the
breeding place of up to 17 fish species. Depart : From

is approximately 36 000 ha in size, has 1 500 plant species (108
species are rare or threatened, 34 species were recently discovered
and are still undescribed), has 86 mammal species - the most notably
are the rare bontebok, Cape mountain zebra as well as eland, grey
rhebuck, baboon, yellow mongoose, caracal and the occasional leopard.
During the winter and early summer months this is whale watchers
paradise - in one of the largest marine protected areas in Africa
that provides a sanctuary for a vast and fascinating array of marine
life.
De Hoop is open for day visitors between 07h00 and 18h00 - situated
about 100 km east of Agulhas. Depart : From Tip of Africa
